Full Stack Developer
Andrew
Smith.
I build scalable, high-quality products and better developer experiences, specialising in Python, Node and the web.
01 / Profile
A decade of shipping for the web.
I'm a seasoned full stack developer and technical content creator with over a decade of experience delivering medium to large-scale projects in collaborative, team-driven environments. I consistently go the extra mile to ensure high-quality outcomes, whatever the size or complexity of the project.
My background spans developer advocacy, cybersecurity, e-commerce, financial services, healthcare, wellness and fitness. Most recently I've worked with Supabase, Spinning Fox and Inocan Group, improving authentication workflows, integrating frameworks like Next.js and SvelteKit, turning community feedback into product improvements, and boosting application performance through careful architectural decisions.
I'm an active contributor to open source projects including Svelte, Slim PHP and Supabase.
02 / Writing
Notes on what I've learnt.
- Supabase JavaScript library is not a ORM or a query builder, it's a RESTful API URL constructor supabase-js constructs a restful API url for the server to make request to resources you are requesting.
- First things I do when setting up a Supabase project
- Integrating Supabase Storage with Payload CMS Using S3 Compatibility
- Performing full text search with the Supabase Python library Doing full text search with Supabase inside of your Python project
- Your database is the source of truth Your database is the source of truth and not your schema migrations
- Writing more, procrastinate less Write more, spend less time procrastinating
